Contemporary Services Corporation (CSC) becomes the first Crowd Management company to receive Homeland Security SAFETY Act Designation and Certification

Northridge, CA - June 7, 2016

Contemporary Services Corporation (CSC), the leader in Crowd Management and Event Security, has received the highest level of certification in protection awarded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security by becoming the first Crowd Management Company to obtain both Safety Act designation and certification for event security services.

Subsequent to the terror attacks on September 11th, 2001, the U.S. Government quickly moved to establish a Federal Department focused on the prevention, protection and response to potential future threats and hazards to the American people. The result was the establishment of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Understanding the potential reluctance surrounding the creation of anti-terror products and services by the private sector, the U.S. Congress developed specific legislation to encourage the creation of anti-terrorism technologies as part of the Homeland Security Act of 2002. The SAFETY Act offers legal liability protections for companies who provide qualified anti-terrorism technologies. Once DHS was in place, the mission of SAFETY Act implementation was given to the Science & Technology Directorate, where is resides today in the Office of SAFETY Act Implementation.

Having recognized the value to their clients of becoming a SAEFTY Act Holder as well as the necessity for service providers to be SAFETY Act holders, CSC began the process in 2009 of gaining this coveted credential, and has now become the first in the industry’s history to achieve this status.

CSC Technology has a set of core competencies in addition to a set of enhanced, customer-driven activities including physical security, access control and crowd management. The technology also includes CSC’s Quality Assurance procedures. This includes the selection, vetting and training of employees; periodic internal, external (third-party), and Red Team assessments of CSC’s effectiveness as well as the annual review process.

“CSC remains committed to continuous review and improvement in the delivery of its certified/qualified anti-terrorism technologies,” CSC Founder, Damon Zumwalt stated. “We feel this illustrates our unwavering commitment to our clients and their guests in preventing and responding to any potential hazards or acts of terrorism. By our continuing to review and modify the proven techniques of our QATT we are looked at as the innovative leader of event security services, and we will continue to do all we can to maintain that title.”

CSC would like to thank the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for the opportunity to earn their SAFETY Act Designation and Certification. We look forward to working with our clients and their consituents in providing a safe, secure

and friendly guest experience.
